It comes at the end of every Christmas season. It’s expected, anticipated, and celebrated as we countdown to the new year. We watch that glittering, gleaming, light-up ball that looks so much bigger on TV than it does in person fall as the clock strikes midnight. More thoughts and memories than you’d think possible flood my mind in those seconds between 10 and one.

I can’t believe a whole year has passed. Just last January, Jimmy and I were in a long distance relationship preparing for our long distance wedding and now we’ve been married almost a year.

So much has happened in the last twelve months. We cruised around the Bahamas on the Disney Dream, moved hundreds of miles from my family, unpacked in our new home, started new jobs, started worshipping at a new church, learned new roads and met new faces.

We’ve been a part of and attended many weddings this year and it has truly been an honor. Seeing college and childhood friends, teammates, and roommates so happy and so in love is such a blessing.

I miss my family more than words can express and yet I talk to them so much, I don’t even feel like I’m gone at times. That is, until I walk outside and the bitter cold hits my face while I trudge through the snow. Yeah, this definitely isn’t Florida.

Who would have thought in a million years that I would live in the same house as a puppy and that I might even like her at times? That’s a huge accomplishment.

I’m not ready for the year to be over. 2017 has been one of the best years of my life.

There’s still not any really good Mexican restaurants around here. Wait, I didn’t eat lunch today! I can’t believe I missed my last lunch of 2017.

I’m actually kind of hungry right now.

Thank you, God, for blessing me immensely in 2017.

Here it comes…

Happy New Year!!

Bring it on, 2018. You have a lot to live up to.
